Pawel Kwiek. 1,2,3... A Cinematographer's Exercises. Photography, film, video
"Paweł Kwiek. 1,2,3... ćwiczenia operatorskie. Fotografia, film, video" is an attempt of a revision and a reinterpretation of the body of work of Polish artist Paweł Kwiek (born 1951, Warsaw). The book is focused on works from the 70’, among others most famous ones: Video A (1975) and Video C and P (1975).
At the beginning of the 1970s, Paweł Kwiek was a member of the Workshop of the Film Form (and one of its main forces). (…) Situated between the two major centres of the Polish neo-avantgarde of the 1970s, Kwiek’s projects acquired an original and pioneering character. On the one hand, the artist betrayed an analytical approach, while on the other, in the spirit of the Open Form, he pursued improvised activities involving other people as well as engaged in social and political activity.
