Kontakt ...works from the Collection of Erste Bank Group
The exhibition catalog features most of the works that had been purchased since Erste Bank Group's resumption of its collecting activities in 2004, and it contains various essays that provide insight into the differing cultural and artistic contexts that existed during the Socialist era. The presented works mirrored a collection at the beginning of its development, indicating the intended direction of its purchasing activities. The catalog reflected the development of the collection in three respects: first, it indicated the collection's future orientation; second, it highlighted the collection's intent to enable a new perception of contemporary European art history that did justice to the "enlarged" or "whole" Europe; and third, it pointed to a new collecting policy model conceived so as to match the needs and particularities of the region.
