DokuFest, Prizren, Kosovo
1–9 August 2025
Autostrada Biennale, founded ten years ago and curated this year by Erzen Shkololli, is adopting “a situated approach, inviting artists from various generations and geographies to engage deeply with a number of Prizren´s historical sites. By reimagining past works and commissioning new projects, this edition fosters a dialogue in the present while critically reflecting on the past.”
DokuFest, the upcoming edition of which is set to take place concurrently with Autostrada Biennale, numbers among Europe’s most important documentary and short film festivals. DokuFest’s artistic director Veton Nurkollari has chosen to show the Kontakt Video Portraits of Alexander Horwath, Ashley Hans Scheirl, Milica Tomić, and Želimir Žilnik. These will be screened at the Autostrada Biennale on 2 and 3 August accompanied by live discussions with author, curator, and filmmaker Neil Young and the portraited personalities.
DokuFest will also be presenting films and video works from the Kontakt Collection by Sokol Beqiri, Dietmar Brehm, Ivan Ladislav Galeta, Sanja Iveković, Anna Jermolaewa, Adrian Paci, (Ashley) Hans Scheirl, Mladen Stilinović, Milica Tomić, Želimir Žilnik, and Artur Żmijewski on 3 and 4 August. These, too, were selected by Veton Nurkollari in accordance with DokuFest’s original aspiration “to celebrate the art of filmmaking while fostering dialogue and appreciation for the cinematic arts in the region.”
