- 40 digital scans from color photographs
This set of forty digital scans of analog color photographs is a selection from an open-ended series that Koller created toward the end of his life as one of his major late works. This series always presents the same gesture, in which the figure of the artist repeatedly transforms itself into a signaling device situated between the Earth and the cosmos. Each act of signaling takes place in a different location, often situated in the public realm and urban environments, in response to the specific constellation of his surroundings and immediate stimuli from the environment.
This work both continues and concludes a series of “cultural situations”—performative interventions in which a place and culture are ritually marked by the artist’s body. With only a few exceptions, all of the photographs were taken by his lifelong partner Květoslava Fulierová. D.G.
